Dell is an American corporation, one of the largest companies in the field of computer manufacturing. Listed on the Fortune 1000 list, shares traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange, since 2013 - a private company. The headquarters is located in Round Rock, Texas in the USA. Dell is known to modern man as a manufacturer of good and reliable laptops and computers. Now it continues to develop its own technologies, demonstrating successful stability in the global market, despite the rapid ups and downs. Few people know, but it was Michael Dell, as the founder of an American company, who started this business with a start-up capital of only $1,000 in his small university dorm room. For decades, Dell has shown confidence in its capabilities - its market capitalization is in the billions of dollars. Formation Raised in a family of dentists, Michael Dell sold magazine subscriptions at an early age before founding his first IT company, which helped him understand the principles of direct selling marketing that would later inform Dell's growth strategy. Dell, being a student at the University of Texas, was inspired by the Apple II computer he earned from selling postage stamps and began to research the relevance of PCs in the market. He was also interested in the needs of customers. At that time, the most indicative company in development was IBM, which sold computers through intermediaries for almost $ 4,000 - almost twice as much as their cost. At that time, IBM did not offer to change the PC configuration: consumers had to suffer both with this nuance and with the fact that the overpayment for a computer was about 40%. Dell realized that he had a chance to make a difference and empower customers. Michael decided to found PC's Limited, which eventually forced him to drop out of school. At the beginning of the journey, the starting capital of PC's Limited was set at only $1,000. Dell bought the remaining components in warehouses and placed ads in the newspaper, thanks to which he received individual orders for assembling computers. Sold Dell assembled computers at a price below the market by an impressive 15%. All of this is made possible by the use of a direct sales marketing model, which significantly reduces sales costs, when the assembly of a particular product does not begin until after the order has been placed. First successes The work continued successfully - in a year it was possible to sell more than 1000 custom-made computers. At this point, Dell realized that it was time to start building his own products. In 1984, the first self-developed computer called the Turbo PC appeared. It worked on the basis of the Intel 8088 processor, the frequency of which did not exceed 8 MHz. The PC's Limited Turbo PC was priced at $795, which is now over $1,900 adjusted for inflation. However, the price for such a computer in comparison was much lower than that of competitors. In 1985, PC's Limited released a clone of the IBM PC AT at an absurdly low price of just $1,995 compared to $4,000 for the original IBM version. In 1987, the company began to conquer the European market with relatively inexpensive, but high-quality solutions. The brand name also changed, at first the company was called Dell Computer, and later - Dell Computer Corporation. In 1990, the company's development was at a record high with an annual growth rate of a whopping 80%. Dell issued shares on the NASDAQ stock exchange - two years later, they rose from 23 cents to $ 40 per paper. These numbers are very attractive to investors. In the same year, Dell released its first server systems with Intel 80486 processors - they were considered very powerful at that time. Two versions of the computer were offered: a cheaper Dell 425TE with a frequency of 25 MHz, and a faster Dell 433TE with a frequency of 33 MHz. The cost of such machines exceeded $ 12,000. Yes, the price is very, very high, but again, it is much less than that of competitors: for example, a similar Compaq SystemPro 486/33 was then available at a price of over $30,000. The emergence of diverse solutions In 1996, Dell Computer Corporation's products went online, and the company forever changed the way e-commerce went for the world's organizations. Dell's flagship product at the time was the Latitude laptops, their main selling point in the market was their larger battery and balanced hardware features at a relatively low price. The Latitude line appeared back in 1994 - laptops in this series were presented as devices suitable for the needs of various people, including businessmen. In 1996, the company unexpectedly introduced a full line of PowerEdge servers. Such a move was not clear to everyone, because, given its growth, Dell could direct all its efforts to increase its share in the laptop market. Dell did not fail, in 2001 his company became the leader in the supply of servers based on Intel processors in the United States. All in all, 2001 was a pretty great year for Dell Computer Corporation - it also became the world's No. 1 computer systems supplier. Gain popularity with Latitude
